Welcome back to the second installment of our “Reaction” series! Today, we’re diving into the world of innovative products seeking crowdfunding support. Our goal is to provide you with a well-rounded perspective based on the information we have at hand. While we can’t claim complete impartiality, we strive to shed light on both the pros and cons of each product we review. This time, we’re venturing into the captivating realm of coffee and crowdfunding. Who knows? We might just stumble upon a product that completely transforms your coffee-making routine. Leveraging the knowledge I gained from my previous blog, I’m excited to introduce you to a fresh Kickstarter project: the Goudveer F1.

Exploring the Exciting Features of Goudveer F1

Meet the Goudveer F1, a groundbreaking coffee grinder that beautifully merges the benefits of both manual and electric grinders. Its compact size and rechargeable battery make it a perfect travel companion, ensuring you can savor freshly ground coffee wherever you go. Let’s delve into some of its standout features:

  • 48 mm conical wheels: designed in 420 stainless steel for long service life.
  • Micrometric adjustment: The grinding adjustment is located at the base of the mill, near the grinding wheels. It offers 100 levels of precision, with a gap of 18 microns (0.018 mm) between each level. So you can choose the fineness of your coffee according to your preferences and preparation method.
  • Minimal retention: The design of the Goudveer F1 is inspired by manual grinders, reducing coffee retention to a minimum.
  • Battery-powered (or hand-cranked) mill: The Goudveer F1 is battery-powered, giving it long runtime. According to the manufacturer, a full charge will produce between 35 and 50 grinds. The mill is easily recharged using the USB Type C cable supplied.
  • Auto-Stop: An intelligent protection system fitted to the grinder detects the resistance of the coffee beans. The grinder stops automatically if the beans resist too much, to prevent damage to the grinding wheels.

Exploring the Aesthetics and Longevity

Meet the Goudveer F1, a perfect blend of modernity and elegance. Its design is a testament to the meticulous attention given to the selection of materials and the overall aesthetic. This mill ingeniously merges the benefits of both manual and electric mills, offering you unparalleled versatility.

While we at Coffeegeek appreciate the mobility that the mill’s battery operation provides, it does spark a bit of curiosity regarding the longevity of the battery-powered motor. It’s a feature that certainly warrants further exploration.

It’s true that the utilization of batteries can have a considerable effect on our environment, and their efficiency often diminishes with each charging cycle. But don’t worry! If needed, you can always revert to using the mill in its manual mode.

When we were introduced to the Goudveer F1: a portable electric coffee grinder, we were disappointed by the bottom adjustment on the grinder.

One concern we have at Coffeegeek pertains to the placement of the adjustment system. Drawing from our experience, we’ve found that manual grinders with top-adjustment systems (like the KINGrinder) tend to be more precise than those that adjust from the bottom. Consequently, we’re a bit apprehensive that the Goudveer F1 might not be fully optimized for espresso, similar to our findings with the C40. However, this is purely speculative at this point, and we eagerly await user reviews once the first units are shipped out.

Affirmative, However… (Latest Update)

I was pleasantly surprised to find this intriguing photo as part of the Kickstarter project:

Interestingly, the image showcased by the creators of the Kickstarter project, intended to demonstrate that their Goudveer F1 mill doesn’t channel, appears to be a channeling photo itself. A small credit in the top right corner reveals the source of the image, linking to an article on “cremacoffeeproducts.com” that provides a detailed explanation of what channeling is. However, it’s worth noting that this article doesn’t seem to have any direct connection to the Kickstarter coffee grinder in question.

This image could potentially imply that the creators of the project may not have a comprehensive understanding of the topic they’re showcasing.

Discover Our Availability and Pricing

Considering the features it offers, the Goudveer F1’s Kickstarter price appears to be quite a bargain. For just $99, you can get your hands on a versatile hybrid mill that promises a great deal of flexibility. However, it’s worth noting that once this mill hits the market officially, its price will jump to $199. This places it in direct competition with many other high-precision manual mills. Therefore, it’s essential to consider the balance between the convenience of its electric mode and the quality of the grind it produces.

  1. Terrible product with unexisting support.

It is metallic only at the top – but the bottom is weaky plastic, with questionable quality of locking system I don’t believe will last long. The design make the top of the cup and locking puzzle messed with grinded coffee, as well as the bottom of the top grinding part – you must have to hold both part in your hands or, if you put the mechanism on the table after grinding, your table will be in mess, covered by freshly grinded coffee.

But aside of that, it doesn’t work. The mechanism is stopping in 7-10 seconds after you pressed the button. So, you will never gring your beans. Only manually if you purchased the extended set.

The support stopped responding to comments about this issue at INDIEGOGO and never responded to direct messages.

    Stay away from this.

    1. Thanks for your return. I hope many people see your comment and don’t fall into this trap.
