We’re thrilled to share that Odyssée Espresso has unveiled their upcoming launch of the new lever-operated espresso machine, the Argos model. This compact yet professional-grade machine is a dream come true for espresso aficionados. This article is the latest installment in our “reaction” series, where we spotlight groundbreaking products that are about to make their grand entrance into the market.

Meet The Argos: A Cutting-Edge, Lever-Operated Marvel

This machine boasts a number of truly captivating features. When compared to lever machines like the La Pavoni, it’s clear that they often fall short, especially when it comes to maintaining a stable temperature.

Pre-order Argos lever espresso machine design overview

Meet the Argos Lever-Operated Espresso Machine, a marvel of modern coffee technology. This machine is outfitted with a PID control, conveniently operated by a thumbwheel. The PID control is a game-changer as it guarantees precise thermal stability, ensuring your coffee is always brewed at the perfect temperature. But that’s not all! You can also control this machine using the Odyssey Espresso application. This handy app allows you to keep an eye on:

  • extraction time,
  • the volume of water (to know the ratio),
  • extraction ratio,
  • flow rate,
  • pressure,
  • and the temperature of each espresso.

Are you curious to know if the Argos machine can match up to the Decent machine when it comes to functionality? Let’s explore this together!

Adding to the list of innovations of the Argos lever espresso machine is its unique lever system. This system provides you with two distinct configurations to choose from:

  • The first configuration gives very gentle control over the lever, as there is a spring to help the user extract the espresso. As the spring is calibrated, it helps the barista to find a certain regularity in his extractions.
  • The second configuration consists of removing the spring to obtain a completely manual machine, without assistance, like the La Pavoni machines mentioned earlier. The procedure for removing the spring is not complicated, and a video showing the operation is available on the manufacturer’s website.

We’ve delved into functionality and innovation, but haven’t we forgotten something? What about the aspect of design?

Exploring the Aesthetics of Argos Design

Right from the start, the Argos lever-operated espresso machine was crafted with longevity in mind. Its corrosion-resistant stainless steel build, complemented by timeless wooden accents, ensures it’s not just a coffee maker, but a durable piece of art for your kitchen.

In a nod to practicality, the manufacturer has chosen to use the universally accepted 58 mm filter holder. Just to jog your memory, 58 mm is the go-to size for all coffee professionals. This means you’ll have no trouble finding affordable accessories when you need them.

Setting itself apart from the Flair lever espresso machines, the Argos lever machine boasts a unique steam function. I must admit, I haven’t had the chance to see this feature in action yet, so I can’t comment on its power. However, I would venture to guess that it’s likely on par with the steam function of a La Pavoni lever machine, given that its steam nozzle is directly connected to the boiler.

Take a peek at the images on the official manufacturer’s website. You’ll notice that the water collection tray is ingeniously designed with magnets. This clever feature makes it a breeze to remove and replace the tray. Isn’t that handy?
